Music Business Contracts
Contracts are needed and required dealing in the music business especially in hip hop and r&b. Make sure both parties understand the aggreement laid forth. Contracts bind both parties to hold up their side of the deal. When dealing with performances, and management music business contracts or needed.
Many promoters love to secure artists for performance dates. They give the city a false since of hope by not paying a deposit or securing a contract for the artists. In my current city there has been numerous show ups and numerous no shows. The show ups are GREAT but the no shows are Terrible. Always secure a contract when performing or booking an artist.
Managers are required a percentage of your earnings ranging from 15% and up now this percentage needs to be agreed upon between the artist and the manager. Many get ripped off both artists and beginner managers by not having a contract to determine earnings. Get a contract.

Artist Promotion Band Promotion
Promotion is the name of the game flyers, posters, cds, commercials, text messages, and email all these facets and more are used to create buzz of promotion for your band and or music. You dont know about it unless you were told bout by someone or by a media outlet.
You must tweet about your movement over and over again. You must send numerous emails and text messages for people to check you out. Make facebook groups, myspace pages, blog site. This the best way to get viral.
Get out there and get busy. Put your movement in front of everybody.

Aproaching Radio and Club Dj's
Everybody knows by now that djs are the core essential part of providing that heat to the streetz and breaking new artist. The dj must cosign you either through your buzz or street team or promotional campaign. You also must build relationships with the djs and approach them the right way.
When dealing with djs they already know you want to give them music to check out. So when aproaching a radio dj or club dj extend a hand of friendship not one of asking for a hand out. Ask about them and how they are doing grab the contact information, Dont give them no music unless they ask! They know you got sum.
Follow up with the dj ask if can hang out at the station a time or two, or come the club they play at and vibe with them. After these steps they will view as an associate not a liability or leech.
After this establishment of the relationship pass them your music ask their true opinion and tatics or getting it played, placed, and put in rotation. This one djs can save you so much leg work by servicing your record to other djs to hop on your record. Its better to build one house then to build 10 one room shacks.

Album Leaking New Marketing Strategy
Hip hop way of Marketing
The Game intentionally leaks his album
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, the innovation that is occurring in music marketing is occurring in hip hop. Proving this point, Allhiphop.com is reporting on how The Game has recently intentionally leaked the clean version of his forthcoming album. Further, this is really noting new in this so artistic industry for a minute now album leaking has been used to increase hype, and anticipation for a release. As of recently Jay-Z's BP3 which was scheduled for a Sept. 11, 2010 release, but due to the album leaking which I believe was intentional in turn upped the release date to Sept. 8, 2009 (yesterday. Many labels frown on this method currently with the decline in album sales, but true artists with a real honest strong fan base will continue to sell albums no matter the economic situation. Share your views and comments with me on this marketing strategy.

Passion Driven or Driven by Passion?
Are passion driven or are you driving your passion? You mite be like what da hell am I talkin about.Lets aalyze this first if you are passion driven you are doin any and everything for your craft with no sense of direction. Just doing whateva comes to mind and whateva the next man is doing. As soon as you hear one of your associates got thier song on the radio, or djin for a big artist, or got a write-up in a magazine the first thing out a person's mouth is "Dam how did you do that, who you talked to, who you paid, etc." Right then you are passion driven or an impulse thinker, ready to ditch your plan or current strategy banking on the same success of the next man by doing exactly what he did, which will not always be the case. This entertainment biz is so crazy the next big senstion can come from anywhere. Now if your driving your passion you are commanding your destiny, working your plan to get to where you want to be. You are setting realistic goals and accomplishing them in set times. When you drive your passion you understand you must start small and work your way up
Example: myspace page>>>website>>>social site. Now that this has been explained I ask are you Passion Drivin are or you Driving your Passion?
Everything comes with a sacrifice in life what ever goals or future endeavors you have or want to pursue will cause for a sacrifice. Are you willing to make it? You must endure 4-6 years for a college education, you must change your diet and physical activities to loose weight. Whateva you love or have got accustomed to during your present state will cause for a sacrifice it may be big or little, but there will be a sacrifice none the less. So I ask you again are you willing to sacrifice?

Social Site Blueprint
Well by now you have been invited to join many social ning networks which are all and have their benefits if you utilize them right. All social sites have their own personal reason for being implemented whether to unify people with common interests, promote an artist, record label or a certain service. That one purpose will always be forced upon you by the site creator by email, events, and comments. But under all of that you can make your reason and purpose felt on someones social network site by doing the following:
Post a video
Upload songs
create a blog
make an event
comment on forums
Chat with others
The main thing people miss out on in a social network is to be SOCIAL! Most of yall just aimlessly request friends with out saying thank you or offering anything in return. The bad thing with these social sites is that they are free to start up and the member count is usually no higher that 500 which is not much and most people dont check it on a regular and most just wanna sell you sumtin.
So how do you survive and be visiable? You must show interest send messages to your friends not mass messages but personal ones like: "Hey I noticed youre into blah blah How long have you doin that so and so." You must make a connection.
I hope this was very helpful more is on the way!
